Code of Ethics

Selfless Service

ALL sincere seekers will be serviced in the spirit of selfless service. Readings will not be given in exchange for money under any circumstances. Voluntary donations might be accepted by some individual members.

Practitioner boundaries

Readers should use their discretion to set appropriate limits on querent interaction, especially as regards repeat readings and dual relationships. For example, they should take care when seeking out repeat querents.

Querent Agency

Prediction is a perfectly acceptable practice and free will is not omnipotence. However, readers should emphasize the querent’s agency to respond to all situations - even when it does not appear from the divination that outcomes can be changed. For example, if a querent is due to go to prison, they can decide how to act whilst confined.

Respect & Care

Readers will respect both querents and those people who surround the querent.

• For example, this means third party readings are discouraged in cases where the intention or motivation could interfere with someone’s privacy or result in other issues.

• Similarly, a friend or family member being present at a querent’s reading is unlikely to be appropriate in most cases.

Honesty & Transparency

Readers will represent themselves and their skills accurately and honestly throughout their marketing and service pages. If such information is not already displayed on their website, they will always respond openly to legitimate questions on these matters.

Integrity

A reader shall not set up their public practice in such a way that their integrity is likely to be compromised. For example, readers should not chase an excessively high volume of querents or offer readings when going through very difficult life periods.

Confidentiality

Privately available services will be given in confidence between querent and reader except in the case of thoroughly anonymized case studies/example readings. Any publicly viewable services (such as public livestreams) will be given with extra concern in this regard.

Personal Remit

All practitioners shall read only within their scope of competency. They should not provide medical, legal or psychological advice. Divination involving sensitive topics should be handled with particular care and refused where required.

Querent Sourcing & Intake

Readers will create practices and procedures to find and intake querents in such a way that:

• From the outset, they are not overwhelmed with free reading requests.

• The language used is not attracting querents in crisis.

• The policies of all involved platforms are followed.

• The reader’s policies and ethics are displayed promiently in appropriate positions on their website.

*Readers must have a website. A link-in-bio service (such as Carrd) is not adequate to intake querents.

Membership Declaration & Accountability

• All members, whilst having the option of public anonymity, shall have their real names on Guild record.

• They shall make their Guild membership known throughout their marketing materials and landing pages. This shall be done by using the Coat of Arms logo and providing a prominent link to the Guild’s code of Ethics.

These practices will allow for accountability among Guild members should any querent have complaint.
